Texas Carnival Ride Accident

I am sure, by now, you have all heard about the three-year old that was thrown from a carnival ride in Texas.  This terrible accident was actually caught on video.  Amazingly, the child is alright.

It was reported that the carnival people first said that the child climbed out by herself, but the video proved this to be untrue.  They are also reporting that this has prompted a push for tougher rules and regulations on carnival rides.

Now, I am not familiar with the rules and regulations for carnivals, nor am I familiar with how safe they actually are.  What I have not heard is why the parents let a three year old child on this ride alone to begin with.  We never seem to want to make the parents take responsibility for their own actions.  There is no way I would have let a three year old child on this ride alone.

What do you think???  Whose fault is this???

  1. I was at our carnival in Austin the other day and saw a very small thin child almost go through the bar on a similar ride....I was freaking out yelling at the operator (he and the parent gave me a dirty look)....All day I watched parents try to get different ride operators to let their little ones on rides that they were too short for and get angry when turned away....I am in aw of such idiotic thinking....Get on with them or don't let them go at all!

  2. Thanks for your comment - this is exactly what I am talking about. You get a dirty look from BOTH the ride operator AND the parent. However, when something goes wrong, who is the finger pointed at?

Have parents totally abandoned common sense and their responsibility for the safety of their children??
