TARGET
The Star Tribune, a Minneapolis, MN newspaper, reported
today that Target Corporation has launched an online charitable partnership
supporting gay pride. Target is
apparently partnering with the Family Equality Council, based in Washington,
DC. The Family Equality Council has
supported gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender families for more than a
decade. According to the newspaper,
Target Corp. had previously supported Twin Cities based Rainbow Families.
Target is now featuring ten t-shirt designs with
gay-friendly designs on its website.
These t-shirts sell for $12.99, all of which will be donated to the
Family Equality Council, subject to a $120,000 cap. This campaign by Target comes in time for the
gay pride season next month and just after President Obama expressed his
support of gay marriages earlier this month.
Minnesotans are scheduled to vote this fall on whether to amend
Minnesota’s state constitution to define marriage as a union between a man and
a woman.
Do we really need state Constitutions to define
marriage? Do we need to leave everything
in the hands of a political machine that has already done so much to eradicate
God from this country? Let’s take a look
at what the Bible says about marriage?
Mark 10: 6-8 - “But from the beginning of the creation God
made them male and female. For this
cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then
they are no more twain, but one flesh.” Further, in Leviticus 18:22 we are
instructed: “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind; it is abomination.”
People complain about the poor state of our country. If you will notice, the more we let
government and retailers take God out of our country, the worse it gets. It should not take a rocket scientist to
figure this out.
The American Family Association distributed an email
regarding this latest move by Target Corp. and urged readers to contact Target
and express their opposition to this move.
They list a telephone number to call as well as an email address to
Target Chairman, Gregg Steinhafel.
Interestingly, if you attempt to send an email in opposition via the
link in the e-mail, you will receive a notice stating: “Update!
Target is blocking emails from the AFA Action Alert System.”
I guess Target does not want to hear my opinion. Therefore, I surmise that they also do not
want my business! And hopefully, you
will feel the same.
I would love to hear your comments on this matter.
HOME DEPOT
I feel sure that most of you have heard alot on controversy concerning Home Depot's support of gay rights. They have historically supported gay rights in various ways, including having company vehicles, employees and even floats in parades celebrating gay rights. The American Family Association circulated a petition for a boycott of Home Depot unless they take a "neutral" stance on this matter. Below is an audio excerpt from a recent shareholders meeting - after the petition was delivered to the company. Please take a moment to listen to this.
The petition, as stated in the audio, is simply asking that Home Depot to cease their social activism in supporting gay rights and take a neutral stance in this matter.
Needless to say, I will not be shopping at Home Depot!! I would love to hear your comments on this.
Don't shop there anyway and this is cause for sure not to ever.
