Corporal Max Klinger

I'm sure many of you out there remember the television show, Mash.  If you don't, and you have cable or satellite, you can still catch the re-runs.  One of the most memorable characters in the show was Jamie Farr as Corporal Max Klinger.

Today, I was sent an article from Public Advocate of the United States, a non-profit, charitable organization, headed by Eugene Delgaudio.  This is a charitable organization that fights for traditional values.  This particular article dealt with the first anniversary of the repeal of Don's Ask Don't Tell.  The article mentions several celebrations that were held that day.

At West Point, a homosexual group, Knights Out, held a Gay Cadets Recognition Dinner.  Apparently, this was a first.  In San Diego - another first.  Military personnel marched in the city's gay pride parade - in uniform.  Worse yet, at Fort Polk, Louisiana an Army Chaplain officiated a military homosexual marriage.

Now, the homosexual activists are trying to force the Department of Defense to allow "cross-dressing" among the troops.  This is where my mind wandered immediately back to Mash and Corporal Klinger.

You see, in the show Mash, Corporal Klinger desperately wanted out of the Army.  In order to try to get out on a Section 8, he was a cross-dresser.  He wore outrageous outfits to carry this out.  Below is just one of his "get-ups".

Now, back then (during the Korean war), cross-dressing was obviously grounds for dismissal from the Army - or any other military unit.  Of course, this never worked for Klinger!

It strikes me as sad that our values have so deteriorated.  I suppose Klinger would be considered "in fashion" today.

What do yo think about the openness of homosexuality in the military today - and do you think they should allow cross-dressing among the troops?  I look forward to your opinions.
