Move to New York City

We are all aware of the problems plaguing our great country.  The list is long and not so illustrious;  economy, unemployment, etc.

In my own home state, the largest county in the state has filed for bankruptcy, one of the largest cities in that county is in dire financial straits and the state, in general, is talking lay-offs. 

But there is a ray of hope:  After watching the news this morning, I think I need to move to New York City - as a matter of fact, I think we should all move to New York City.  After all, they apparently have no major problems there.

The mayor, Michael Bloomberg is pushing for a ban on large sodas - yes, he wants to ban the sale of sodas over 16 ounces in size.  This would not extend to grocery stores - only restaurants, fast food establishments, sports arenas, bars and the like.  If passed, you would no longer be able to buy a soda in excess of 16 ounces.  This is, by his account, to combat obesity.  Gee, why didn't someone else think of this?  After all, even the first lady has been big on combating obesity.

Now, I'm not sure why he is so convinced that someone who wants a large soda won't simply buy two, but apparently he is.  Also, I don't know about New York City establishments, but the fast food establishments around here have "beverage bars."  You purchase your drink, then simply refill it when it is empty. 

So, if the mayor of New York City has nothing better to do or worry about than regulating the amount of soda its residents can purchase at once, then I think we should just move there - they apparently do not have any of the major problems that the rest of the country is experiencing.  I think I can live with buying two sodas instead of one.
